Course Content

This course is the second in a sequence of two that intoduce the mathematical concepts of statistical inference. The topics covered in this course include: hypothesis testing, likelihood method, optimality, order statistics, nonparametric methods, rank statistics, linear models, and reliability concepts (Chapters 12 through 16 in the above text).

Notes

1.Quizzes: There will be approximately 9-10 quizzes, one given each week when there is no midterm. These quizzes will be In the form of short ten-minute quizzes at the beginning of class or longer take-home quizzes due at the start of class. Quizzes will be based on homework material and class discussions. In computing the quiz average, the lowest two quiz scores will be dropped. Since the lowest two quiz scores will be dropped, no makeups will be given on quizzes.

2. Midterms: There will be three midterms, 60 minutes in length, tentatively scheduled for: 9/19, 10/24, 11/28. Since this is a three-hour class meeting once a week, it is important to note that on the night a midterm is given, new course material will be covered during the rest of the class session.

3. The Final Examination is comprehensive and is scheduled for Wednesday, December 12, 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
